If You Have Been in a Car Wreck, Here is a List of Information You Should Collect

Even if you have been in an auto wreck, and police officers come to the accident scene, you should still collect information regarding the crash.  You should be aware that police sofficers may come to the scene but may lieave if there are no apparent injuries, disruptions in traffic, etc., or if they have other pressing business.  Many drivers are later dismayed that no police report was actually made, even though the police had been on the scene.

3. Driver license number and state of issue of other motorists involved; their dates of birth;

4. Addresses and phone numbers of other drivers involved;

5. Insurance company name and agent's name of other drivers; insurance policy number; policy holder's name and address;

6. Names and addresses of passengers in other vehicles, particularly if they are witnesses;

7. Description of their vehicles (make, model, year, license plate number and state of issue);

8. Estimate the amount of property damage and its location to your vehicle and other involved by using a simple drawing;

9. If police officers are on the scene, write down their names and badge numbers for future reference;

10. Any apparent injuries to persons involved in the collision, including yourself;

11.  If you have a cellphone, take a video (or have someone else) of the crash site;
