Semi Accident Leaves Anchorage Man Critically Injured

An Anchorage man was hit by a semi and was critically injured on Thursday, October 9, 2014.  The Anchorage Daily News reported on the story here.  The driver of the truck called 911 to report the crash.  According to the driver, the man was walking along the Seward Highway and suddenly appeared in front of him and he couldn’t avoid the collision.  Anchorage police closed a stretch of highway along the Seward Highway for several hours.  According to the APD, the injured man was not wearing reflective clothing.  The crash occurred around 9:45 p.m.

Regardless of who was at fault, it is important to be aware that fatigued driving is one of the primary causes of crashes involving tractor-trailers.  Fatigue can affect the driving of some truckers in a way that is similar to being under the influence of alcohol.  For example, the Saturday Night Live star, Tracy Morgan, was rear-ended by a semi tractor-trailer where the driver had been driving too long and was overly fatigued.  USA Today reported on the story here.   Your attorney can most likely find out through a lawsuit whether the driver had been driving too long and was fatigued and argue that this likely contributed to the collision.
